I started my OCR Journey unknowingly in Orlando Florida at The Europa Fitness Expo. Muscle Pharm sponsored an “Assault Obstacle Course” with 2 days of competition and 300 athletes taking a shot at $10,000 in prize money! Even at my 220lbs, I dominated the obstacles and had my first taste of victory! I loved this type of competition and knew this was my God Given Talent; I just needed to figure out how I was going to continue to capitalize on it and not let the opportunity pass.
I enjoyed traveling and knew there were plenty of opportunities nation-wide to earn prize money and big trophies! So, I did just that, I traveled regularly for 2 years, with the help of a sponsor and kept on winning until my sponsor was bought and my travel money went away. That chapter was over, but my hunger was not. I knew I wanted to continue racing obstacle courses and I got another opportunity after becoming Champion of the Tri Fitness 160 yard obstacle course that saw competitors flying in from all over the world. I also took the crown for the 260 yard True Grit Course that featured stations for a tire flip and kettlebell work combined with speedy obstacles put on by the legendary Al Rosen, Godfather to "The Rock," Dwayne Johnson.
Over time, I built a obstacle course of my own in my backyard and have been training on it ever since. Most recently, I've found a way to continue living my passion thanks to platforms such as NBC’s “American Ninja Warrior”, Spartan's "Ultimate Team Challenge”, CMT’s and WWE Super Stars "Stone Cold" Steve Austin's “Broken Skull Challenge” and CBS Sports' Tough Mudder X “TMX.”
This year you'll find me competing around the country in Spartan Race Stadium events and other OCRs, and might even see me on one of the new hybrid athlete fitness competition shows on the big networks 🙂
If you see me at an event, please come say hi - you'll likely find me at booth with my favorite product, Caterpy Laces, or hanging-out with my FitLincMedia OCR agency fam.
