Ashley Heller grew up in a small mountain town in western Oregon where she spent the majority of her childhood playing in the dirt in the woods. As a five sport athlete through most of her adolescence her drive for competition grew. Ashley went on to compete in Alpine Ski Racing, Cross Country, and Track & Field in college and professionally. At the collegiate level, she was a 2-time NAIA All American in the 1500m, 800m, a 4-time NAIA Cross Country National Qualifier and a 16-time NAIA Track & Field Championship Qualifier. She now resides in Idaho where she owns and operates a Real Estate Team, teaches as an adjunct professor and thrives on the demanding rigors of her OCR training and racing.
My first obstacle course race was the Boise Sprint in June of 2017. I had just recently stepped away from Track after an injury and was looking for something fun to compete in. I joined up with a team to train and compete with for a few weeks prior to the race and I ended up winning the Open competition that day. After the race I caught the fever and decided to see just how competitive I could be. Enter Elite status 🙂
This is a loaded question...All of it! The people, the venues, the camaraderie, to push physical and emotional limits, to feel the pure yet insatiable reward of complete and utter exhaustion, the emotional reprieve and the unrelenting desire to do and be better!
The Swiss Alps - BEAUTIFUL!
I am a registered professional Jet Ski Racer (stand up of course) but, I don't actually compete, just ride.
Amelia Boone. I respect her raw unwavering authenticity. And I too share an obsession with sleeveless hoodies.
Trail racing...which I still dabble in.
